Hells Canyon Treasure Hunt

treasure_hunt2.jpg - 53248 BytesDuring your adventure into Hells Canyon you may want to keep a look out for the newest treasure in our canyon, the glass float. The floats will be hidden at Cache Creek, Kirkwood Ranch and at the lodge of the outfitter you are touring with today.

The one of a kind blown glass floats were handcrafted by Dorian Renando, an artist in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Plain style glass floats were originally used by fishermen to buoy their nets. Dorian has used his contemporary techniques and colors to form molten glass into an eye catching work of art.

If you find one of the glass floats bring it into the Hells Canyon Visitor Information Center (Clarkston Chamber) at 504 Bridge Street in Clarkston (509-758-7489) and pick up your certificate of authenticity. In addition, each float has a unique number which may be tied to an additional prize!

Where will I find a glass float?

The glass floats are only located at designated stops in the canyon, so you will not find one along the banks of the river, they will not be hidden in tall grass where snakes might hide, they will not be buried so do not dig and they will not be hidden on dangerous rocks, so do not climb.

There is no guarantee you will find a glass float, there is a limited number of them in the canyon. Your guide does not know where they are either; they are hidden by very special people.

We look forward to you joining us on an Hells Canyon Adventure.
